Peninsula Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation is a 200-bed,
not-for-profit, skilled-nursing facility dedicated to serving the
community. Our specialized programs strive to meet the needs of
our residents who are disabled due to various diseases or accidents,
and to address the needs of our residents' families as well. Each
individual's care is managed by a multidisciplinary team of professionals,
including physicians, nurses, certified nursing assistants, social
workers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech and
language pathologists, audiologists, dietitians, and recreation
therapists. We provide a full continuum of individualized care in
a family-oriented setting using an integrated approach to care which
involves the whole person, not just the injury or infirmity.
a part of Peninsula Hospital Center, a 235-bed acute-care teaching
hospital and affiliate of the North Shore Long Island Jewish Health
System, we help improve the health and abilities of our residents
with specialized medical needs with an emphasis on compassion, interdisciplinary
care and dignity. We provide all the leading-edge and comprehensive
care you would expect from a hospital-based, skilled nursing care
facility. And we hold ourselves up to the highest standards of excellence.
We are voluntarily inspected by the joint Commission on Accreditation
of Health Care Organizations, an organization which intensely investigates
health care facilities against the toughest national standards.
Our most recent Joint Commission inspection resulted in an A+ score
for Peninsula, placing us among the top three percent nationally.
We take great pride in maintaining overall accreditation for the
Nursing Facility and, in addition, individual accreditation for
our Dementia Special Care Unit.
