Mary Joy Bloomer, BSN,NHA
Administrator
Joy
graduated from Cochran School of Nursing and began her nursing
career at Northern Westchester Hospital gaining valuable experience
in the Special Care Unit, the Coronary Care Unit and the Emergency
Room. Making a change to Long Term Care, Joy took a position
as Assistant Director of Nursing at Nathaniel Witherell Nursing
Home in Greenwich, Ct.. In 1984, Joy joined our team at Somers
Manor Nursing Home as Director of Staff Development. Over
the years she served as Director of Nursing Services and Assistant
Administrator. Her years of service at Somers Manor were recognized
in 1999 when she was named Administrator. Under Joy's leadership
Somers Manor has developed a total care environment that maximizes
each resident's quality of life.

Patricia Malanchuk
Director of Social Services and Admissions
Pat
received her Masters Degree from the Fordham University School
of Social Work and is a Certified Social Worker, licensed
in New York State. She has over 30 years experience in the
fields of both long term care and short term rehabilitation.
Pat has been the Director of Social Services and Admissions
at Somers Manor since 1998 and is a member of the National
Association of Social Workers, the Northern Westchester Geriatric
Committee, and the Healthcare Social Work Institute of Westchester/Rockland
County.

Scott Hand MS, OTR/L
Director of Rehabilitation Services
Scott's
expertise in the rehabilitation of activities of daily living
and community reentry skills has helped many residents return
home to their independent way of living. His treatments emphasize
educating the residents and family members to help them understand
and manage their conditions in the home environment.
His extensive career includes work as a therapist for the Naples Community Hospital in Florida, Fallston General Hospital in Maryland, and the Careworks of Ohio. His experience also includes an occupational therapy coordinator position at Hudson Valley Rehabilitation and Extended Care Center in Highland, New York and he was formerly the Director of Rehabilitation Services at the Northeast Center for Special Care in Kingston, New York.
Scott earned his bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from Russell Sage
College and then went on to earn a master's degree in occupational
therapy from the Sage Graduate School.
He has led seminars on activities of daily living, community
skills training, fall prevention, dysphagia training and body
mechanics in several states, and is an active supporter of several
charities including the Arthritis Foundation and the Alzheimer's
Association.

Janice Modugno, RNC
Director of Resident Assessments
Janice
has been a practicing Registered Nurse since graduating from
Bellevue School of Nursing in 1968. She has a strong backgound
in nursing and was the Director of Nursing Services at two
skilled nursing facilities prior to coming to Somers Manor.
She served as the Resident Care Coordinator at Somers for
nine years before establishing our Resident Assessment Department
three years ago. Janice is a member of AANAC, the American
Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators, and has earned
an AANAC certification in Gerontological Nursing.

Joanne Nelson, MT-BC, NMT
Activities Director
Joanne
is the Director of Recreation and Volunteers at Somers Manor
where she has worked since June of 1993. Joanne received her
degree in music therapy from Anna Maria College in Paxton,
MA and went on to receive advanced training in neurologic
music therapy from the Center for Biomedical Research in Music
at Colorado State University. As a board certified music therapist,
Joanne has implemented many innovative programs at Somers
Manor including: neurologic music therapy ambulation, range
of motion programs, reminiscence sessions, leisure training
groups and intergenerational programs. Joanne is committed
to involving residents in the community and achieves this
through continuing volunteer interaction, fund raising events,
and various intergenerational programs, as well as gift giving
and receiving programs.
