Central Island Healthcare in Plainview leads the way as Long Island's largest and most active sub-acute facility and has served as a key health care provider in the community for over 30 years.
Our facility offers 202-beds in a friendly and supportive setting along with the latest state-of-the-art equipment. We strive to motivate and encourage our patients to achieve their maximum potential throughout all facets of care. Our comprehensive rehabilitation services, respiratory services, IV therapy, and other treatment programs enable our patients to achieve excellent outcomes during a short length of stay.
Central Island's rehabilitation therapy programs are key to our patient's successful outcomes. Our professional rehab staff provides rehabilitation therapy five to six days a week while our outgoing therapeutic recreation staff offers a wide variety of recreational activities seven days a week.
Central Island Healthcare's facility is custom designed and decorated to provide a beautiful and comfortable, yet functional setting. Patient accommodations include both private and semi-private rooms, each tastefully decorated and furnished with the comforts of home. Individual televisions and telephones are available for convenience and enjoyment. Upon arrival, patients at Central Island are welcomed by a warm personal greeting from our staff and view our unique welcome video which provides important patient information and education.
Our therapy programs are offered in areas that are bright, spacious, and cheery, complete with the latest in state-of-the-art technologically advanced equipment.
When it comes to dining, patients may enjoy their meal in a variety of locations throughout the facility. Patients may dine in one of our three glass-enclosed dining rooms, relax with a meal in the privacy and comfort of their room, or weather permitting, enjoy a meal in our large outdoor courtyard. Under the direction of a physician, patients may receive regular meals or a therapeutic diet all carefully prepared with the guidance of a registered dietician. Kosher meals are also available upon request. A full calendar of recreational activities is offered to enjoy, or patients can pursue their own activities and interests. Trips and outings are often found on the activity schedule for our residents.
Patients at Central Island Healthcare benefit from a broad complement of caring, fully credentialed physicians. Each patient receives an individualized care plan which is carefully monitored by our highly skilled Interdisciplinary Team. At Central Island, that team consists of:

Together with the physicians, this team is fully equipped to handle all levels of care including medically complex cases.
We emphasize the importance of family and friends participation in the interdisciplinary care plan meetings and strive to make them an integral part of the therapy program. We develop a comprehensive treatment plan based upon the clinical assessment of the patient's needs as well as the concerns of family or designated representative. Visitors and guests are greeted by our valet parking service and are welcome to visit daily between the hours of 11 am and 9 pm. Evening visiting is preferred in order to allow patients the full benefit of daily therapy programs.
