Purpose:
The purpose of the "Community Outreach Program" is
to allow our residents the opportunity to network within the
community with other individuals.
It is
the Policy of Elm Brook Healthcare and Rehabilitation Centre
to provide recreational opportunities for residents to participate
within the community.
Elm
Brook Healthcare and Rehabilitation Centre offers a variety
of opportunities which apply to all residents within the facility.
Elm Brook Healthcare and Rehabilitation Centre and
the Elmhurst Library have been working together for over two
years on a Outreach Program for Residents to attend Library
Workshops of interest, request a variety of books desired
as well as, participating in scheduled seminars.
The facility
also participates in the monthly outings with "Life on Wheels",
which is a not-for profit organization who provides outings
to the Morton Arboretum Local Malls and free lunch at a restaurant
of choice. This opportunity is free to those residents who
choose to participate. However, participants must be in a
wheel chair due to the layout of the outing bus.
The Local
Park District provides a variety of workshops, classes and
outings for Seniors within the community in which to participate.
Residents are able to request a free brochure monthly to register
for upcoming events.
The VFW
and the Moose Lodge in Elmhurst provide Socials within the
facility on a monthly basis as well as special parties outside
the facility during the Holiday Season.
